The big dream behind 24-7 is to ‘turn the tide in our culture’.

We recognise that the Body of Christ in the West is in great need of an outpouring of the Holy Spirit of God. But while many churches are shrinking spiritual hunger is increasing. Something has to change. That is why God is mobilizing prayer movements like 24-7 (and others).

We want to see thousands upon thousands of people praying together for their friends and their heroes in a focused and persistent way.

24-7 aims to encourage and equip those who find prayer difficult. Many people who find it difficult to pray for 5 minutes, often remark about how addictive prayer is after being involved in 24-7.

The 24-7 model works! It has proven unusually successful at mobilizing people - including the young - to pray at a new level. People learn to pray... by praying.

24-7 captures the imagination, providing a context for accountable yet non-prescriptive prayer.

Most situations link their prayer-season to mission and evangelism.

Isaiah 62 v 6 - ‘never be silent day or night’

Isaiah calls upon watchmen who will guard Jerusalem in prayer and instructs them never to be silent in “day or night” (Isaiah 62:6).

• This tradition of persistent petition and prayer is picked up in the New Testament –
• in the parable of the persistent widow – Jesus tell us that God will respond to our cries for justice, when we cry out to Him day and night.(Luke 18)
• in the disciple’s anticipation of Pentecost
• In Acts 1:14, it says they, ‘All joined together constantly in prayer.’
• and in Paul’s instruction to pray on all occasions and with all kinds of prayers (Ephesians 6:18).
